No Data Collection

TabWife does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. We don't have servers, analytics, or tracking of any kind.

Local Storage Only

Your settings, saved sessions, and window configurations are stored locally on your device using Safari's built-in extension storage.

iCloud Sync

Settings sync across your devices via Safari's native sync functionality. This is handled entirely by Apple — we never see your data.

Tab Access

TabWife requires permission to access your tabs to provide its features. Tab URLs and titles are processed locally and never leave your device.

In-App Purchases

TabWife offers optional tips to support development. All transactions are processed by Apple — we never see your payment information.

How do I enable the TabWife extension?

After installing TabWife from the Mac App Store:

Open Safari and go to Safari → Settings → Extensions
Find TabWife in the list and check the box to enable it
Click "Always Allow on Every Website" if you want it to work everywhere
The TabWife icon will appear in your Safari toolbar

What permissions does TabWife need?

TabWife requires two permissions:

Tabs: To read tab URLs and titles for duplicate detection and organization
Storage: To save your settings, sessions, and window configurations locally

These are the minimum permissions needed for the extension to function. TabWife doesn't access your browsing history, passwords, or any other sensitive data.

Does TabWife work offline?

Yes! TabWife runs entirely on your device. All features work without an internet connection. The only exception is iCloud sync for settings, which requires connectivity to sync across devices.

Why does the badge show a different number than the popup?

The badge and popup should show the same duplicate count. If they differ, try these steps:

Click the TabWife icon to refresh the popup
Disable and re-enable the extension in Safari Settings
Quit and restart Safari

Note: Pinned tabs are excluded from duplicate detection by design.

Can I recover a closed session?

TabWife can save sessions for later, but it doesn't automatically save sessions. To preserve your tabs:

Open TabWife and go to the Organization tab
Scroll to "Sessions" and click "Save Current Session"
Give your session a name

Saved sessions persist until you delete them and can be restored anytime.
